  2. I fell in love with the story and am so excited to finish reading the series. I am a fan of Grayson and hope that Ash (as much as I like you) doesn’t win her over. I think that she made the right choice of leaving them and hopefully she can grow a little while in college and learn to speak up for herself a little more which is why I love her best friend because she helps Ellery so much. Good luck writing!! I eagerly await the completion of this book.

  3. I absolutely love the first book and cannot wait until the next one comes out. I am really hoping she chooses Grayson. He is amazing and really knows her. I think there is a huge misunderstanding about him trying to control Ellie. She openly admits several times that he always gets it right then feels like he’s controlling her even though she has never spoken up about it bothers her. Ash seems like a creep to me. He falls in love with her even though she looks 12, buys a very expensive ring for before he even meets her. I believe he’s only “honorable” because he’s on duty most of the time. I really really hope Grayson wins in the end.

  4. As a dedicated English fan who read these books last year. I also cannot wait for book two. However I would hate for it to be rushed and not as good therefore I am trying to be really patient.

  5. I keep thinking about In the Spotlight and the Grayson part of it. As I have read the book 2 times now since getting it a week ago I think that possibly Gray’s father had something to do with the Grandfather. Because at the end of In the Spotlight at least on the kindle it talks about the synopsis behind In the Smoke. There it says that Gray will have to figure out between loyalty to his father and loyalty to his love. Also in Tentative Tourist Gray talks about how his father’s company is in the red, and when Ellery’s grandfather joins them in Iceland it will help bring the company back up. So I am thinking that Gray’s father wanted to company to survive so he want Grandpa’s rock collection. So as you can tell I am super excited for both of the books to come out already. Until then I am going to try and figure it out on my own and be surprised when it actually comes out.

  11. I was wondering why goodreads.com said that they were released last year? I just finished the first book and really want to read the next one. Anyone know if the book is already released?

  12. I loved In the Spotlight! Great writing. The vocabulary is so fun and Ellery’s quirkiness is so lovable. I am on the edge of my seat in need of the next book. I wanted more of Ellery’s antics in drawing her security detail out of hiding. Also would have liked Sam’s input into the choice between Ash and Gray. Near the end of In the Spotlight I put the book down before bed and found myself completely unable to sleep for hours in the midddle of the night. Had to get up and finish the book before sleeping. Please tell me the next book will be here soon!

  13. Love the book….looking forward to reading the next book. Not a big fan of Ash’s, he just seems strange to me. The the ending I would want, can’t wait to find out.

  15. Love the first book. Ash seems so sweet and Gray is too full of himself. I am anxiously waiting for the second book. Hope it comes soon.

Comment by Chyna — July 29, 2012 at 1:29 pm

  16. I loved the first book! I hope Ellery ends up with Ash – he seems to respect her more than Gray, and is more honorable (at least through El’s narration). It’ll be so interesting to hear from the other two perspectives. Great job! Hope the next books come out soon :)

Comment by Jessica — July 23, 2012 at 3:58 pm

  17. Just completed the book and loved it. Initially, it was a slow read for me and then things started heating up in the latter chapters, at which point, it became hard to put down. I am pulling for Ash so hope Ellery chooses him. Looking forward to book #2 so please hurry…thanks:)

  21. I absolutely loved the book Maybe Attraction: In the Spotlight… I am anxiously awaiting book two! The characters have intrigued me and left me wanting more. The twists and turns are amazing! I thank you for this series… Gives me something to get excited about with the down time I make for reading.

Comment by Chaila — March 19, 2012 at 2:15 pm

  22. I started and finished this book yesterday! I could not put it down! It’s very rare that I have a physical reaction to a book. I was anxious the whole time about who would she pick. I couldn’t even choose myself! It was fascinating. Ash is amazing! I love their interactions. It seems so pure despite their age gap! The rings were a nice touch and I thought for sure that would have sealed the deal! Gray seems like a man who just wants what he can’t have despite the heartfelt admonitions to love Ellery. I need more! I went to sleep reliving it and I can’t wait for the other books! It will be refreshing to have the other perspectives!

Comment by Rachael — March 13, 2012 at 3:11 am

  23. I think Ash should be the one she chooses because he is so honorable and kind. He guides her life but he doesn’t contol it. Another thing is that he seems to truly enjoy her and not just her body. If she chooses Ash, it would be the perfect ending to a perfect book, in my opinion, because I hope to meet someone like that someday and get married to him.

Comment by Katie Peterson — March 2, 2012 at 12:11 am

  24. Honestly, i think she should choose ash, because he gives her more freedom and lets her choose more unlike gray who chooses everything for her and not talk about things. Ash is actually trusting her and gray is letting him make the choices and making ellery to do the trusting. But i wished there was more advice from trevor and sam

Comment by Sophia — February 10, 2012 at 12:11 am

  25. I absolutely loved the book! Very rarely does one come across a book which leaves you wanting more long after reading…It had the perfect balance between sustained suspense and romance. It takes skill in being able to write and portray characters where you end up caring about each one, albeit in different ways. Cannot wait for the other two! You’re my new favourite author!

Comment by Fara — February 7, 2012 at 6:35 pm

  26. I love that this book was well written and the story was what was used to grab the reader’s interest. Too many authors and publishers think that they have to scintillate the reader with suggestive or flat out pornographic material. Please continue to write clean books! Good romance authors who use their story to sell their book and not garbage are a dying breed. I collect these authors’ works when I know that I can trust them to be consistently clean.

Thank you for not being afraid to have values in your book!

  27. I enjoyed “In the Spotlight” for the characters, the new vocabulary (super-geeky, I know) and for the fact that it’s set in my hometown. I’ll be looking out for the next two books!

Comment by Anne — December 22, 2011 at 9:48 pm

  28. I am so super anxious to read the second/third books!!! I hope they come out soon!!! I have had the first book read for a few months now, how much longer?

Comment by Brandy — December 1, 2011 at 2:44 pm

  29. I dunno, I am having a hard time picking the guy so far. I think that with Gray there was a misunderstanding. You get that from the Epilogue in the first book, so I’m anxious to see what will happen in the future with both of these hot fellas and Ellery. :) Happy reading everybody! :D

Comment by Tiffany — November 24, 2011 at 4:51 pm

  30. Loved the first book and read it in one night because I couldn’t put it down! Looking forward to the other two… I’m hoping Ash is the one!

  31. I’m on Team Ash, and I want something terrible to happen to Gray. He needs to pay for being so manipulative!

  32. Lovvvveee the story sooo far!

Was wondering when the next two books will be out?

  33. Hi! I know that in the spotlight is a free nook book, but will the rest of the series be free as well? Thanks!

Comment by Sim — September 5, 2011 at 12:07 pm

  34. I will be devastated if Gray gets the girl. In Ash, you drew a character too beautiful not to win the girl!

Comment by Carole — August 31, 2011 at 4:07 pm

  35. Hey Ann! Just stopping by to check on the progress. Can’t wait to read In the Shadow and review it for you! From what you’re saying it’ll fill in a ton of gaps, so I’m looking forward to that. The end of the year is a long way from now so I’m hoping you type faster, LOL. :)

Comment by Enjoli — August 5, 2011 at 6:09 am

  36. Absolutely enamored by Ash Ryan. you have a great talent in characterization. Each of their individuality is highly appealing. And Ellery did the right thing choosing Ash. No way any self respecting girl can live with Gray, though he is extremely charming in an annoying sort of way. But he is nothing compared to Ash. I loved all the scenes involving Ash n Ellery esp wen he said that his heart belongs to her..

    CAN’T WAIT FOR GRAY’S AND ASH’S VERSIONS…
    wen do u release them?

  37. I loved the first book. I am anxiously waiting for the next two books. Ellery is such a believable character. I loved that you took the time to give such a vivid picture of her. I’m looking forward to see how the entire story comes together!

  40. I love this story…. I couldn’t put my Nook down all night. I can’t wait for the next two books! It just makes me sad that it looks like she does love Ash… I was in love with Gray. Great work! Can’t wait!

  41. I thought I would have a hard time getting involved in a series after the Twilight saga and the Harry Potter series. You proved me wrong! Thank you for that. I’m sure the time will fly as Katie says despite being anxious. Will we have an idea of who she ends up with in book 2, or will that be at the very end of the final book? I’m glad that you want to publish them at the same time, so that I’m looking forward to.

Comment by Heather — June 10, 2011 at 3:18 pm

  42. Hi, I truly have fallen in love with your characters. Ellery mayne is such a relatable character for me. I happen to be 5 ft tall too so I love coming across an equally petite main character. We also share long blonde hair (which I’ve always secretly taken pride in for its golden hue) so the part where she gets her hair drooled over by the boys is probably a favorite for me! I’m curious to learn more about Gray, and sometimes I even cheer him on even though Ash will always be the one (what can I say I love an older guy!). Please don’t rush in finishing the story, take as much time as u need to let the story unfold in its natural grace. The time will fly despite what we anxious fans think!

Thanks for the lovely comment and I’m thrilled to hear about the emotions–this is what keeps writers going! To answer your question, I hope to release Smoke and Shadow at the same time before the end of this winter. Please stay tuned!

  45. I absolutely LOVED this story!! I felt so many emotions for and with Ellery! Can’t wait for the next installment… Will it be another year + after Smoke before Shadows is released?

Comment by Genie — June 3, 2011 at 11:23 pm

  46. Hello Laurel! Thanks for checking in! To answer your question, the next story, “Smoke” as told by Grayson Gregory, will rewind to a trip to Iceland where he first meets Ellery and gets to know her over the summer while her grandfather, Dr. Mayne, is consulting on a mining job there. It will also consider the time between that Iceland trip and their encounter at Dr. Mayne’s funeral, continuing through to what you are familiar with and what happens after Ellery disappears. You can read more about the upcoming books on the “About The Story” page of this website at http://mayneattraction.com/about-the-story/

    Enjoy!
